BOPET stands for biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate - a
polyester (PET) film stretched in two directions to enhance its
mechanical and thermal properties. As the base film for thermal
transfer ribbons (TTR), it is the substrate onto which ink/wax/resin
coatings are applied for thermal printing.
Polyester film is the base material of choice for thermal transfer
ribbons: thin, strong, heat resistant and dimensionally stable.
