AAK Hydraulic Cartridge Relief Valve 3 Tricks for Optimization

Gaylord comes from Holland and is an old customer of AAK hydraulic valve. Some
time ago, he emailed me to ask if AAK could optimize a hydraulic direct acting
cartridge relief valve. After communication, I learned that at the beginning of
the year, they had an order for a hydraulic power unit for high-precision
machine tools, which used a hydraulic direct acting cartridge relief valve.
Gaylord chose an Indian hydraulic cartridge valve manufacturer to make samples,
and the equipment debugging was not smooth. The hydraulic direct acting
cartridge relief valve had unstable overflow liquid, forming a jet, especially
under low pressure, the stability of the system was poor. Although the function
test of the valve was normal, it was still necessary to optimize the hydraulic
direct acting cartridge relief valve, but 2 weeks later, the original
manufacturer still had no solution, and Gaylord contacted me.

According to his hydraulic system schematic diagram and the drawing of the
original hydraulic direct acting cartridge relief valve, AAK engineers found
the hidden danger of the original structure. Gaylord sent the PO of the test
order. After 50 days, AAK sent 10 samples of hydraulic direct acting cartridge
relief valves.

A month later, Gaylord sent us an email. The equipment was adjusted smoothly.
Under low pressure, the system was stable. The customer was also satisfied with
the prototype. His engineers also admired the brains of AAK technical team. AAK
hydraulic direct acting cartridge relief valve has good stability under low
pressure conditions. The key lies in its unique structure:

1. The valve spool, spring, plunger and pressure regulating knob are
successively installed in the cavity of the hydraulic cartridge relief valve
body. The valve spool contacts the valve seat under the elastic force of the
spring, and relies on the elastic force of the spring and the back pressure of
the overflow port to balance the hydraulic pressure generated by the oil inlet.

2. The original poppet valve spool is changed into an integral ball type valve
spool, and an annular gasket is set between the ball valve spool and the
spring. The ball valve spool can automatically adjust the axial angle relative
to the centering bearing, which improves the stability of the valve and ensures
the low pressure stability of the hydraulic system.

3. Before assembly, the standard steel ball is used to punch the runner port
and gasket port that contact the steel ball. The original wire seal is changed
to ring seal to improve the sealing performance, so as to ensure the reliable
contact between the gasket and the steel ball and realize the stable overflow
function.
