Aluminum sulfate

Aluminum sulfate has the CAS number 10043-01-3 and its chemical formula is
Al2(SO4)3. It is a white crystal or powder and is widely used as a flocculant for
treating drinking water and wastewater, as well as in the paper industry.
It is mainly used in water treatment (flocculation agent) and the paper industry
(sizing agent). It can also be used as a chemical reagent, cosmetic raw material
(astringent), foam fire extinguishing agent, mordant, petroleum decolorizing
agent, and raw material for manufacturing alum and artificial gemstones. It
reacts with water to form aluminum hydroxide flocs, effectively removing
impurities from the water and purifying the water quality.
