A buttweld eccentric reducer is a type of pipe fitting used to connect two
pipes of different diameters while maintaining the same bottom line. Unlike
concentric reducers, which are symmetrical, an eccentric reducer has an edge
parallel to the connecting pipe, making it ideal for applications where air
pockets or drainage are concerned.

Comparison: Concentric vs. Eccentric Reducer

Concentric Reducer: Centerline remains consistent. Used when fluid flow is
relatively uniform and pressure drop is minimized.


Eccentric Reducer: One side is flat (maintains bottom/top alignment),
preventing cavitation. Ideal for constant flow or gravity feed.
