Carbon Steel Wire Mesh
Carbon steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, typically containing up to 2% carbon, along with varying amounts of other elements such as manganese, silicon, and sulfur. It is one of the most widely used types of wire mesh due to its excellent strength, affordability, and versatility. Carbon steel wire mesh is typically available in plain weave, twill weave, and various other weaving patterns, and can be manufactured in different mesh sizes, wire diameters, and forms such as rolls, sheets, or panels. Carbon steel wire mesh has a characteristic dark or blackish metallic appearance, and it can be finished with coatings such as galvanization, PVC, or paint to enhance its resistance to corrosion and extend its lifespan. Without protective coatings, carbon steel is prone to rusting, especially when exposed to moisture or corrosive environments. Properties: Generally, the higher the carbon content of carbon steel, the greater the hardness and the strength, but the lower the plasticity. Carbon steel wire cloth is known for its strength and durability, making it suitable for heavy- duty applications. While carbon steel is susceptible to corrosion, it can be protected with coatings. It is generally more economical compared to stainless steel and other specialty alloys.
