China Manufacturer Customized Oil Resistant Rubber Oil Seal

A rubber oil seal is a sealing device that prevents liquids or gases from
leaking out of mechanical equipment. It is usually installed between a rotating
shaft and a stationary part. A rubber oil seal consists of an outer case, a
rubber sealing lip, and a spring that preloads the lip against the shaft.

The temperature range that a rubber oil seal can withstand depends on the
type and performance of the rubber material used in the seal. Rubber, like most
other materials, has a temperature range in which it works the best. If the
temperature exceeds this range, the rubber will lose its elasticity and
flexibility, and the seal will no longer be able to fulfill its intended
purpose.

Different types of rubber have different temperature ranges, depending on
their chemical composition and properties. For example, according to some
sources:

  1. Natural rubber has a low temperature usage of -20° to -60° F (-29° to
-51°C) and a high temperature usage of up to 175° F (80°C).

  2. Nitrile rubber (NBR) has a low temperature usage of -40° to -10° F
(-40° to -23°C) and a high temperature usage of up to 250° F (121°C).

  3. Silicone rubber has a low temperature usage of -75° to -100° F (-59°
to -73°C) and a high temperature usage of up to 450° F (232°C).

  4. Fluorocarbon rubber (FKM) has a low temperature usage of -15° to 5° F
(-26° to -15°C) and a high temperature usage of up to 400° F (204°C).

These are general guidelines, and the actual temperature range for a
specific rubber oil seal may vary depending on the application and operating
conditions. Factors such as pressure, speed, lubrication, fluid compatibility,
and seal design can also affect the performance and durability of the seal at
different temperatures.

Therefore, when selecting a rubber oil seal for an application, it is
important to consider the expected temperature range and choose a suitable
rubber material that can withstand it. By doing so, you can ensure that your
rubber oil seal works efficiently and reliably for a long time.
