DMAC (N,N-Dimethylacetamide)

N,N-dimethylacetamide, also known as acetyl dimethylamine, acetyl
dimethylamine, or DMAC for short, is a non-proton, highly polar solvent with a
slight ammonia smell. It has a strong solubility and can dissolve a wide range
of substances. It can be miscible with water, aromatic compounds, esters,
ketones, alcohols, ethers, benzene, and chloroform, and can activate compound
molecules. Therefore, it is widely used as a solvent and catalyst. As a solvent
with high boiling point, high flash point, high thermal stability, and chemical
stability, it can be used as a solvent for polyacrylonitrile spinning,
synthetic Chemicalbook resins and natural resins, copolymers such as vinyl
formate and vinyl pyridine, and solvents for aromatic carboxylic acids; as a
catalyst, it can be used in processes such as heating urea to produce cyanuric
acid, reacting alkyl halides with metal cyanides to produce nitrile, reacting
sodium acetylene with alkyl halides to produce alkyl acetylenes, and reacting
organic halides with cyanates to produce isocyanates. N,N-dimethylacetamide can
also be used as an electrolytic solvent and a solvent for photographic
colorants, a paint stripper, an organic synthesis raw material, and a pesticide
and pharmaceutical raw material. Extractive distillation solvent for separating
styrene from C8 fractions, etc.
