Uses of Beeswax
In the industrial and personal care sectors, beeswax is a key ingredient in
the production of high-quality candles, helping them burn more slowly. It is
also an essential raw material for floor wax, shoe polish, polishing wax,
crayons, and batik. In beekeeping, beeswax is used to make foundation sheets
that support beehives and artificial queen cells.
In the cosmetics industry, beeswax imparts the ideal solid form and hardness
to products such as lipstick, lip balm, and hair wax, serving to set the
shape and thicken the formulation.
In the pharmaceutical industry, beeswax is commonly used as a medicinal
excipient—as a coating for pills and as a binder and base for medications
such as ointments and liniments—to increase their viscosity.
