Aerogel cotton

What is aerogel cotton?

Aerogel is a kind of material with a nanoporous network structure.
Aerogel is usually derived from wet gel. The liquid in wet gel is replaced
by gas, and the structure that retains the gas-solid multi-empty skeleton
without collapse is called aeroge.

Optical property

Nano and multi-space structure is beneficial to infrared absorption,
aerogel has strong absorption in far infrared, and can be used for far
infrared stealth.

Thermal properties

At the same time inhibit heat conduction, heat convection, heat
radiation.

Acoustic performance

As sound waves pass through the aerogel, sound is dissipated,
creating the effect of blocking sound waves.

Adsorption property

Aerogel has a large internal surface area, uniform and ordered cavity
structure, easy to adsorb other molecular atoms.

The thermal insulation principle of aerogel

Prolong the heat conduction path indefinitely:The mesh skeleton of
aerogel extends the path of heat conduction infinitely, which is very
difficult. Moreover, the nanoporous structure forms countless gases, and
heat is difficult to conduct.

There is no internal air circulation:The pore size of aerogel (20-
55nm) is smaller than the mean free path of air (70nm), that is to say, the
gas molecules in the pores cannot flow freely, so the heat convection
between gas molecules is inhibited.

The gas-solid interface forms numerous thermal partitions:The network
skeleton of aerogel forms "infinite thermal diaphragm effect", which has a
shielding effect on thermal radiation.
