Malononitrile
Malononitrile is the raw material for preparing 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine
and 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine. It can be used to produce sulfonylurea
herbicides such as benzylsulfuron-methyl and pyrazosulfuron-methyl. It can also
be used to manufacture the herbicide bispyribac-sodium. It is used in medicine
to manufacture diuretics.
