Size:
Melee diamonds are generally less than 0.2 carats. They can range from very
tiny (around 0.001 carats) to slightly larger, but they are always small
compared to the central stones in most jewelry.
Cut:
These diamonds are often cut in round brilliant or single cut styles. Round
brilliant cuts have 57 or 58 facets, while single cuts have 17 or 18 facets.
Clarity and Color:
Like larger diamonds, melee diamonds are graded on their clarity and color.
However, due to their small size, slight inclusions or color differences are
less noticeable.
Functions and Uses:
Enhancing Main Stones:
Melee diamonds are often used to enhance the appearance of larger central
stones in rings and other jewelry pieces. They add extra sparkle and can make
the main stone appear larger and more brilliant.
