NQKSF Special Rubber Factory Supplies High Temperature Oil Seals
In industrial production, high-temperature sealing is one of the key links to ensure stable operation of equipment, prevent leakage accidents, and increase service life. Especially in the fields of metallurgy, chemical industry, automobile, aerospace, electricity, etc., seals must work for a long time in high temperature environment and still maintain good sealing performance and mechanical strength. Therefore, the correct selection of high-temperature sealing materials, reasonable design of structure, and adaptation in combination with specific working conditions are the core of high-temperature sealing applications.
1. Definition and characteristics of high-temperature sealing
High-temperature sealing refers to sealing technology that can maintain sealing function in continuous or intermittent high temperature (usually above 180℃, or even more than 400℃) environment. Its characteristics include high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, heat aging resistance, good thermal expansion stability and certain corrosion resistance. Commonly used for static sealing (such as flange gaskets) or dynamic sealing (such as rotating shaft seals).
2. Common high-temperature sealing materials
Fluororubber (FKM): The temperature resistance range is generally between -20℃ and 250℃. It has good heat resistance, oil resistance, and chemical resistance. It is widely used in automobile engines, oil seals and other parts.
Silica gel (VMQ): Excellent high and low temperature resistance, can work at -60℃ to 225℃, suitable for food, medical or electrical sealing.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): Can withstand high temperatures above 250℃, and has extremely strong chemical inertness, often used for corrosive media and high-temperature gas pipeline sealing.
Graphite material: Sealing gaskets made of natural or expanded graphite, with an operating temperature of 500℃ to 650℃, used in high-temperature and high- pressure steam and hot oil systems.
Metal spiral wound gasket: Composited with stainless steel and flexible graphite and other materials, suitable for high-temperature flange connection parts such as boilers and heat exchangers.
III. Typical application scenarios of high-temperature sealing
Automotive industry: Such as exhaust systems, engine cylinder heads, turbochargers, etc., seals need to withstand instantaneous high temperatures and thermal cycles.
Petrochemical: Reactors, hot oil pipelines, etc. need to deal with the dual test of corrosion and high temperature.
Power industry: The steam system of coal-fired or nuclear power plants has extremely high requirements for high-temperature sealing, and sealing failure may lead to serious safety accidents.
Aerospace: Aircraft combustion chambers and propulsion systems need to maintain sealing under extremely high temperatures and high pressures.
IV. Design and use suggestions
Material selection based on the medium: The corrosiveness of the medium, the temperature fluctuation range and the working pressure need to be comprehensively considered.
Optimize the structural design: The material is easy to soften and deform at high temperatures, and an anti-extrusion design should be added or a metal skeleton reinforcement structure should be used.
Reasonable preload: The sealing structure needs to set a suitable installation preload to offset the gap changes caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
Regular inspection and maintenance: High-temperature seals are prone to aging, and maintenance cycles should be set to replace aging parts in time.
High-temperature sealing technology is not only an extension of materials science, but also an important guarantee for equipment safety and reliability. By selecting suitable high-temperature sealing materials, optimizing structures and installation methods, enterprises can achieve stable operation of equipment in harsh environments, reduce maintenance costs, and improve production efficiency. In the future, with the development of manufacturing, material innovation and technological progress in high-temperature sealing will bring more breakthroughs to industrial applications.
