Olivetol is an important drug intermediate. Olivetol was first developed by
degrading lichenic acid (also known as D-cerosol acid and valerine acid) extracted
from lichen plants. It is mainly used in laboratory development and chemical
production. Olivetol is a natural polyphenolic compound found in lichens, or
produced by some insects. Olivetol competitively inhibited the cannabinoid
receptors CB1 and CB2, and inhibited the activity of CYP2C19 and CYP2D6, with IC50
values of 15.3 μM, 7.21 μM, 2.71 μM, 2.87 μM, respectively.

Amylresorcinol), also known as olivine alcohol or 3, 5-dihydroxypentylbenzene, is a
natural polyphenolic compound that is a precursor used in the synthesis of
tetrahydrocannabinol and has antibacterial, antitumor and immunoreactive effects.
Olivetol is a competitive inhibitor of the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.
