RIBBON BARS

Ribbon bars are small fabric strips that represent military, police, or
organizational decorations and medals. Instead of wearing full-size medals,
which can be heavy or impractical for daily uniforms, service members often
wear ribbon bars as a compact and formal alternative.

Key Features:

Material: Usually made of silk, polyester, or other durable woven fabrics.

Size: Standard size is about 1⅜ inches (35 mm) wide and varies in height
depending on the number of ribbons.

Mounting: Attached to a rigid metal or plastic backing with a pin, clutch,
or slide bar for easy placement on uniforms.

Design: Each ribbon features distinct colors and patterns that correspond
to a specific medal, decoration, or award.

Arrangement: Multiple ribbons can be mounted together in rows, with the
most prestigious ribbons placed on the top row and toward the wearer’s
right side.

Types:

Single Ribbon Bars – Represent one medal or award.

Mounted Multiple Ribbons – Several ribbons combined on a bar for a neater
appearance.

With Devices/Emblems – Small metal attachments (stars, oak leaves,
rosettes, numerals) indicating additional awards or special distinctions.

Usage:

Worn on dress uniforms when full medals are not required.
