Saw Palmetto (Serenoa Repens): The medicinal parts are the partially dried ripe
fruit, the ripe fresh fruit and the ripe dried fruit, The plant is indigenous
to the coastal regions of the southern states of the US, from South Carolina to
Florida and southern California.
Brief Introduction
Saw palmetto extract is prepared from the the fruit of serenoa repens, which is
the sole species currently classified in the genus Serenoa. Saw palmetto
extract is rich in fatty acid and phytosterols. Saw palmetto extract has been
used in traditional medicine for a variety of indications, most notably benign
prostatic hyperplasia.
 
Main functions

• Enhances sexual functioning: improves sexual desire reduces cholesterol and
fatty acids in the blood.
• Prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement.
