Sodium Carbonate
We have for sale 96,000 tons of bulk sodium carbonate located in Peru. These are compactions of varying magnitudes and dark stains that appear dirty and others of a reddish color (apparent rust). Storage has not been ideal but may still have use in certain circumstances.
Potential Uses (with caveats due to impurities):
Water Softening (Industrial/Large Scale): Sodium carbonate is a common water softener. It precipitates calcium and magnesium ions, the culprits behind hard water. Even with some discoloration, it might still be effective for large-scale industrial water treatment where the visual appearance isn't critical. However, the rust stains might introduce iron into the water, which could be undesirable depending on the application.
Cleaning Agent (Heavy-Duty/Industrial): While you wouldn't use this for delicate household cleaning due to the stains, it could potentially be used in some heavy-duty industrial cleaning applications where a strong alkaline solution is needed and the visual appearance isn't paramount (e.g., degreasing, certain types of equipment cleaning). The rust stains, however, could potentially worsen staining on some surfaces.
Glass Manufacturing (Potentially): Sodium carbonate is a key ingredient in making glass. However, the impurities, especially the iron (likely causing the red stains), could significantly affect the color and quality of the glass produced. It might only be suitable for very low-grade glass production where color isn't a concern.
Chemical Manufacturing (Intermediate): It could potentially be used as a reagent in the production of other chemicals. The suitability would heavily depend on the specific reaction and the tolerance for the impurities present.
Neutralization of Acids (Industrial Spills/Waste): In case of large acidic spills or acidic industrial waste streams, sodium carbonate can be used for neutralization. The color and compaction might be less of a concern in such emergency situations.
There are more possibilities but we are accepting reasonable offers for the full 96,000 tons.
Minimum Order: 96 tons
