Stone is a porous hydrophilic material that easily absorbs water and produces
various lesions, affecting the natural beauty and decorative effects of the
material, and has always restricted the application of natural stone.
Organosilane/siloxane molecules have both hydrophobic groups and reactive
functional groups. Natural stone is mainly composed of minerals such as quartz,
feldspar, and calcite. It is very suitable for surface modification with
organosilane/siloxane. The reactive functional groups react with the inorganic
substrate and combine together. At the same time, the hydrophobic groups face
the outside world, preventing water molecules from approaching, making the
surface of the material water-repellent like lotus leaves.
