TCN High Pressure Seals for Demanding Industrial Applications

When rotating equipment encounters complex operating conditions, such as high
pressure, fluctuating pressure, and elevated oil temperatures, the sealing
system's mission becomes more than just "preventing oil leaks."

Seemingly minor issues—slight shaft misalignment, unclean oil, or sudden load
changes—often push seals to their limits, particularly lip stability, which
can easily lead to problems.

We've found in numerous field projects that the TCN high-pressure seal series
is particularly well-suited to these applications characterized by fluctuating
pressures and rising temperatures. It withstands not only steady-state
pressures but also sudden fluctuations and disturbances.

TCN High-Pressure Seal Structure

• Dual-layer lip construction: The primary lip is responsible for pressure
resistance and oil conduction, while the secondary lip is responsible for dust
protection. For example, when equipment operates in dusty and humid
environments for extended periods, the secondary lip effectively prevents
external contaminants from entering the system, slowing down media degradation
and lip wear.

Internal spring: A short-coil design is used. This design offers the advantage
of maintaining consistent lip pressure, ensuring a stable fit even with slight
shaft wear or deformation, and preventing oil jumps.

The combination of the housing and rubber-coated outer diameter provides both
rigid support and greater tolerance for seat bore machining accuracy and
thermal expansion and contraction, ensuring greater peace of mind and stability
during assembly.

How do we choose materials? Experience tells you these details are invaluable.

We recommend choosing a flexible material based on the specific application:

Nitrile (NBR): Excellent oil resistance and reasonable price. Suitable for
applications with temperatures below 125°C, especially for equipment using
standard mineral or synthetic oils.

Fluorocarbon (FKM): This material is essential for high temperatures or highly
corrosive media, and it resists degradation even after long-term operation.

The housing and spring: We typically choose carbon steel or stainless steel,
prioritizing strength over corrosion resistance depending on the application.

Parameters

· Operating Pressure: The recommended range is generally below 0.3 MPa. Of
course, in some low-speed, well-lubricated, and heat-dissipating applications,
higher pressures can be used, but actual measurement is essential.

· Surface Roughness: This is often overlooked. We recommend a Ra of 0.2–0.8
μm. A surface that is too rough will damage the lip, while a surface that is
too smooth will prevent film formation. This subtle difference can make the
difference in the lifespan of the oil seal.

· Lubrication and Cooling: Whether pre-lubrication is performed before
startup, whether a film is formed, and whether there are hot spots all directly
impact seal life.

What equipment are TCN high-pressure seals commonly used in?

· Pumps: For example, clean water pumps, chemical pumps, and sewage pumps,
these seals perform well on pressure-bearing shaft ends.

· Hydraulic systems: For hydraulic motors, plunger pumps, and gear pumps,
these systems experience pulsation and low-speed, high-torque conditions, where
the TCN series performs reliably.

· Reducers and powertrains: Gearboxes and drive shaft ends, especially those
operating in environments with combined thermal expansion and backpressure.

· Industrial equipment and robots: Spindle and joint units, which are
particularly sensitive to leakage.

· Construction and agricultural machinery: Excavators, harvesters, and
loaders. These types of equipment typically operate in very dirty environments
and require high sealing requirements.

· Wind turbine and marine equipment: Wind turbine yaw systems, pitch control
mechanisms, and propeller shaft seals require water and dust resistance and
pressure resistance.

· Automobiles and heavy-duty trucks: Used in transmissions, differentials, and
power take-off shaft ends, emphasizing durability and leakage control.

If you're working in extreme conditions, such as vacuum, ultra-high speed, or
high-corrosion applications, we recommend considering customized solutions or
specialized oil seal models rather than simply using generic parts.

Our Services

· Fast In-Stock Delivery: We have a wide inventory of standard models,
ensuring reliable emergency response.

· Customized Services: We support the entire process from design, material
selection, and sample testing.

· Over 30 Years of Industry Experience: We not only sell seals, but also
understand system optimization. We can help you improve overall performance
through aspects such as heat transfer, lubrication, and vibration control.

Seals aren't just for fitting and forgetting; they determine your equipment's
stability, operating costs, and maintenance intervals.

So, rather than waiting for problems, it's better to choose the right one from
the start.

We've tested, used, and seen the TCN high-pressure seal series overcome complex
challenges in medium- and high-pressure rotary applications on multiple
projects.

We'd also like to share this experience with you: Don't just look at the data
sheet; understand the issues facing your equipment before choosing the right
solution. This is the beginning of understanding seal usage.
