Trichloroisocyanuric acid is an organic compound, a white crystalline powder or
granular solid, with a strong pungent smell of chlorine. It is an important
bleaching agent, chlorinating agent and disinfectant. Compared with traditional
chlorinating agents (such as liquid chlorine, bleaching powder, bleaching
powder essence), it has the characteristics of high effective chlorine content,
stable storage and transportation, convenient molding and use, high
bactericidal and bleaching power, long effective chlorine release time in
water, safety and non-toxicity, etc. Therefore, its development and research
have attracted attention from all countries.

1.Disinfection and sterilization
Trichloroisocyanuric acid is a highly effective disinfectant bleaching agent.
It is now used as a disinfectant in industrial water, swimming pool water,
cleaning agents, hospitals, tableware, etc.; it is used as a sterilant in
sericulture and other breeding. In addition to being widely used as a
disinfectant and bactericide, trichloroisocyanuric acid is also widely used in
industrial production.
2.Application in the printing and dyeing industry
Trichloroisocyanuric acid contains up to 90% active chlorine. It is used as a
bleaching agent in the printing and dyeing industry. It is suitable for
bleaching cotton, linen, wool, synthetic fibers and blended fibers.
3.Application in the food industry
It can be used as a decolorizing and deodorizing agent for dextrin.
4.Application in the wool textile industry
It is used as a wool shrinkage-proof agent in the wool textile industry,
replacing potassium bromate.
5.Application in the rubber industry
It is used as a chlorinating agent in the rubber industry.
6.Used as an industrial oxidant
The oxidation-reduction electrode potential of trichloroisocyanuric acid is
equivalent to that of hypochlorite, and it can replace hypochlorite as a high-
quality oxidant.
7.Other aspects
It is used as a raw material in the organic synthesis industry to synthesize
various organic substances such as tris(2-hydroxyethyl)isocyanurate. The
decomposition product of trichloroisocyanuric acid, cyanuric acid, is not only
non-toxic, but also has many uses, such as producing a series of resins,
coatings, adhesives, and plastics.
