Ball Lenses

Ball lenses are transparent spherical ball, which has small diameters,
sometimes with a few millimeters or even less than a millimeter. It has
characteristics of good surface quality, good light reflection, directional
reflection, high impact strength, and light weight, etc., which are applied in
various areas, such as chemical, aerospace, transportation, light industry,
medical, etc.

The Application of Ball Lens
Ball lenses are great optical components for improving signal coupling between
fibers, emitters, and detectors. They are also used in endoscopy, bar code
scanning, ball pre-forms for aspheric lenses, and sensor applications. Ball
lenses are manufactured from a single substrate of glass and can focus or
collimate light, depenging upon the geometry of the input source. Half-ball
lenses are also common and can be interchanged with full ball lenses if the
physical constraints of an application require a more compact design.

Spherical lenses are the most used lenses in optical systems design, JT
