Reinforcing Bar (RE Bar) is a common name for hot-rolled ribbed steel bars.
Rebar (short for reinforcing bar), known when massed as reinforcing steel or
reinforcement steel, is a steel bar used as a tension device in reinforced
concrete and reinforced masonry structures to strengthen and aid the concrete
under tension. Concrete is strong under compression, but has low tensile
strength. The grade of ordinary hot-rolled steel bar is composed of HRB and the
minimum yield point of the grade. H, R, and B are the English initials of the
three words Hot rolled, Ribbed, and Bars, respectively.
