In order to ensure its high hardness and meet the needs of forming alloy carbides, the carbon content in steel is generally 0.80% to 1.45%. Chromium is the main alloying element of this type of steel, and its mass fraction is generally 0.50% to 1.70%. Some steels also contain tungsten to improve the performance of cutting metals. This type of tool steel contains alloying elements, so the hardenability is better than that of carbon tool steel, the deformation caused by heat treatment is small, and it has high hardness and wear resistance. Commonly used steels are chromium steel, silicon-chromium steel and chromium- tungsten-manganese steel. Tempering between 250-375°C is not advised as tempering within this range will seriously reduce the impact value. 6.
