When in contact with wound exudate, calcium ions in the dressing exchange with sodium ions in the exudate causing the dressing to transform from a dry, fibrous state to a firm, moist gel. A. 1) Do not use on Third-degree burns. 2) Do not use on dry wounds, heavy bleeding wounds as a primary dressing. 3) Do not use on surgical implantation. 4) Do not use on the patients with a known hypersensitivity to the product itself or to its components. Q. How to use the dressing? A. Carefully cleanse the wound with saline and dry surrounding skin. Alginate dressing should be folded or cut to the shape of the wound and applied dry directly.
