Purpose:
1. Trifluoroacetic acid can be used as a solvent for fluorination,
nitration and halogenation reactions.
2. Organic fluorine compounds (insecticides, dyes, chemical reagents) are
raw materials for their production, catalysts for esterification reactions,
polymerization reactions and condensation reactions, protecting groups for
hydroxyl and amino groups, and also used to remove the tert-butoxycarbonyl
protecting groups of amino acids in peptide synthesis.
3. Trifluoroacetic acid has excellent solubility and also has the strong
acidity of inorganic acids. When used with dithiocarbon disulfide, it can
dissolve proteins.
