application of plano convex cylindrical lens is one-dimensional amplification
or compression, spherical lenses act symmetrically on incident light in two
directions, while cylindrical lenses only act on incident light in one

The Application of Cylindrical Lens
Cylindrical lens can be used for correcting astigmatism in systems, and are
widely used in high-precision testing instruments and devices, such as high-
power lasers and long-distance offline interferometers. Cylindrical lenses are
often used in industries such as synchrotron radiation beam lines, barcode
scanners and strong laser systems, electronic optical metrology verification,
laser scanners, spectroscopy, laser diode output light shaping and beauty, and
light film lighting fixtures at the same time. It is also widely used in the
fields of astronomy, medical, and industry, such as telescopes, endoscopes, and
surgical microscopes, laser cutting machines, and micro processing machines.

Cylindrical lenses are commonly used as laser line generators, or to adjust
image height size or correct for astigmatism in imaging systems. JT produces
