In marine environments such as shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and seawater transmission systems, piping materials are continuously exposed to severe conditions including seawater corrosion, erosion, marine biofouling, and cyclic temperature changes. Ordinary carbon steel and stainless steel pipes can be prone to rusting, perforation, short service life, and high maintenance costs. C70600 copper-nickel marine piping, also known as 90/10 copper-nickel alloy piping, offers outstanding seawater-corrosion resistance and stable mechanical properties. It is therefore a mainstream choice for marine piping systems and is widely used in ship seawater cooling systems, ballast-water pipelines, fire- fighting lines, and offshore-platform process pipelines. Product Overview This product is a high-quality C70600 copper-nickel alloy seamless pipe, corresponding to Chinese grade BFe10-1-1 (B10 iron cupronickel). It can be manufactured in accordance with international standards such as ASTM B111, ASTM B466, and ASTM B122. Certifications from major classification societies, including CCS, ABS, DNV, LR, BV, and others, can be provided upon customer request. The alloy uses copper as the base metal and contains 9%-11% nickel, 1.0%-1.5% iron, and an appropriate amount of manganese, forming a stable single-phase solid-solution microstructure. Nickel significantly improves corrosion resistance and strength; iron effectively enhances resistance to erosion corrosion caused by flowing seawater; and manganese further improves processing performance and corrosion resistance. Key Advantages of 90/10 Copper-Nickel Pipe 1. Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance Copper-nickel alloy quickly forms a dense and stable protective oxide film when exposed to seawater. This film effectively resists pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and erosion corrosion caused by high-velocity seawater. The material performs reliably in both stagnant and flowing seawater, greatly reducing the risk of leakage. It also naturally inhibits the attachment of marine organisms such as barnacles, shellfish, and algae, reducing pipeline blockage caused by biofouling and lowering cleaning and maintenance frequency. 2. Stable Mechanical Properties C70600 copper-nickel pipe has good tensile strength and toughness. It is not prone to brittle fracture under low-temperature conditions and performs well under vibration, impact, and cyclic loads encountered during vessel operation. The material also offers excellent fabrication performance and supports bending, welding, and expanding, making on-site installation convenient. 3. Good Thermal Conductivity Its good thermal conductivity makes it suitable for ship seawater cooling systems. Heat-transfer efficiency remains stable during long-term operation, without the performance degradation caused by rust or severe corrosion, helping ensure the reliable operation of marine power systems. 4. Fatigue Resistance and Long Service Life Compared with carbon steel piping, C70600 copper-nickel pipe provides a longer service life in marine environments. It reduces shutdown time, inspection requirements, replacement frequency, and overall maintenance costs, making it especially suitable for long-term offshore operations. 5. Natural Resistance to Marine Biofouling In natural seawater, C70600 continuously releases trace amounts of copper ions, effectively inhibiting the growth and attachment of barnacles, shellfish, and other marine organisms. This can significantly reduce the need for chemical anti-fouling treatment and pipeline cleaning. 6. Excellent Weldability and Fabrication Performance C70600 can be reliably joined using TIG or MIG welding processes. ERCuNi welding wire with argon shielding gas is recommended. The material is also suitable for cold drawing, rolling, stamping, and other forming processes.
