Meniscus lens

Double concave lens
Bi concave lenses comprise of two inward equally curved surfaces. They are ideal for beam expansion, light projection and expanding the focal length of an optical system. Bi concave lenses have a negative focal length, so the lenses are used for image reduction or to spread the light. The bi concave lenses are offered with different diameters and focal lengths. N-BK7 plano concave lens
Plano concave lenses are flat on one side and have concave surface for another side. The lenses are designed for parallel light to be incident to the concave surface. So the plano concave lenses are used for applications including expanding beam, moderating quality image and also used for optical instruments. Because of diverging cone and virtual image, the typical use for plaon concave lens is beam expander. Biconvex lens
Bi convex lenses have two outward curved surfaces, normally the two surfaces have same radius of curvature, with finely polished. Bi convex lenses have positive focal length, so they are used for 1:1 imaging and in multi-element systems. Bi convex lens is a good choice when the object and image are at equal or near equal distance from the lens. Bi convex lens spherical aberration is larger than that of plano convex lens, so focal length may not gather at one point.
