Design and Application Considerations A high-temperature seal must not only resist heat but also accommodate thermal expansion, pressure variation, and dynamic motion if present. For dynamic applications, like rotating shafts, spring-energized seals or metal-cased lip seals are often used. In static applications, gaskets or O-rings with heat- resistant materials and proper gland design are critical. Additionally, installation surfaces must be properly finished and maintained to avoid damaging the seal.
