How to Measure PTO Shaft Types and PTO Yoke Replacement When purchasing a new PTO yoke, you must measure your tractor's PTO shaft to ensure that the new part fits properly. Measure the shaft length from the outer end of each yoke, and compare the length to the horsepower rating of your tractor. Then, choose the proper PTO series size based on the measurements.
