Silane Coupling Agent Mechanism Silane coupling agents are generally illustrated as X-Si-(OR)3. Silicone (Si) is the center of the silane molecule which contains an organic functional group (X) [ex: vinyl, amino, chloro, mercapto, epoxy silanes, etc.], with a second functional group (R) [ex: methoxy, ethoxy, etc.]. The functional group (R) will attach to an organic resin while the functional group (R) attaches to an inorganic material or substrate to achieve a "coupling" effect. Silane coupling agents are predominately used as mediators, binding organic materials to inorganic materials. As a result, silanes will improve the electrical and mechanical strength properties of materials in wet or dry conditions. The inorganic group (R) of the silane molecule will hydrolyze to produce silanol, which forms a metal hydroxide or siloxane bond with the inorganic material. As a result, the organic material and the inorganic material are tightly bound together after heating. This unique property of silane coupling agents is utilized widely in the application of the silane coupling agents for the surface treatment of glass fiber products, performance improvement of fiber-reinforced plastics by the direct admixture to the synthetic resin, improvement of paints and other coating materials and adhesives, modification of surface properties of inorganic fillers, surface priming of various substrate materials, etc. How Silane Coupling Agent Is Used To Treat The Inorganic Fillers? Wet Method By mixing slurry of the inorganic materials in a dilute solution of the silane coupling agent, a highly uniform and precise surface treatment of the inorganic material can be obtained. Dry Method A high shear, high speed, mixer is used to disperse the silane coupling agent into the inorganic materials. The silane is generally applied either neat or as a concentrated solution. When compared to the Wet Method, the Dry Method is most often preferred for large-scale production, treating a large amount of filler in a relatively short time and generating relatively little mixed waste; however, it is more difficult to obtain uniform treatment with this method. POWSIL-59223 is an innovative textile softener, especially designed to deliver a hydrophilic, voluminous and silky natural hand feel to most types of fabrics at lower use level than traditional silicone softeners. It provides fast & consistent hydrophilicity and high ability of fabric to rapidly absorb & retain liquid water of water absorption to most types of textile fiber or silicone fabric, especially for terry towel, which cannot be obtained with traditional silicone or fatty acid based softeners. POWSIL-59110 is a super soft textile softener. It contains a revolutionary & new generation of silicone molecule that delivers a voluminous and silky hand feel. Furthermore it provides sio2 hydrophilic nature to most types of softener in textile fibers or fabrics at a reduced use level than other silicone softeners. It is very stable in an ordinary textile finish process without causing oil- spots on fabric. To ensure the product quality is maintained, the product should not be exposed to too hot or too cold condition. It is stable for 12 months when properly stored at 25°C. S300 has two series: A for asynchronous motor and E for synchronous motor. For example S300A-2-4T 5.5k suits for 5.5kw asynchronous motor and S300E-2- 4T 5.5K suits for 5.5k synchronous motor. The most commonly used high temperature silicone fluids are phenyl silicone fluids. When the phenyl group in the polysiloxane replaces the methyl group, oxidation resistance, thermal stability, and shear resistance are all improved. The phenyl group is usually introduced by a phenylmethylsiloxane or a diphenylsiloxane. phenyl methyl silicone oil with high phenyl content by SiSiB, a relaible silicone producer, is used as heat exchange fluid, dielectric coolants, base silicone diffusion pump oil for high temperature fluid and chromatographic stationary phases. The higher the phenyl content, the better the high temperature thermal stability. Refractive index also increases with phenyl concentrations. Silicone fluids with low phenyl content are used at lower temperatures and are usually used as lubricants for key equipment.
