Dilute sulfuric acid has a great corrosion on steel, when the acid concentration is about 47%, the corrosion rate reaches the highest value. When the acid concentration is greater than 65%, the corrosion rate of steel is significantly reduced. So in the 65 to 80 percent range, lead or or other dilute acid resistant materials are used instead of steel material for the safe operation.
