HAST-01 Hot Air Thermal Shrinkage Tester

Application HAST-01 Hot Air Thermal Shrinkage Tester conforms to ASTM D5591 and ASTM D4974 and is used for the measurement of the thermal shrinkage force and rate of yarns and cords in air at controlled temperature. It is applicable to yarns and cords made of nylon, polyester, and other polymers, etc. Principles ASTM D4974 shrink rate test: A relaxed specimen of yarn or cord is subjected to dry heat for a specified time under a specified tension. The percent of shrinkage is displayed on the screen while the specimen is still under tension and exposed to heat. ASTM D5591 shrink rate test: A specified length of yarn or cord is fixed at a grip and the other end is mounted with a pretension mass, then the mass is removed and the end was connected to a loadcell. After that the yarn or cord is exposed to dry heat at a controlled temperature. The shrinkage force induced in the specimen is read from the tester.
